Smartphone Award 2018
Welcome to Smartphone awards, so there were a ton of Smartphone that came out in 2018, from January CES to all through till December now. All these phones have different strength, different weaknesses, different goals, different design, different things they do well and not so well. They are similar in some ways but they are different. We are now going to break it down and reward the very best of them.
Best Big Smartphone
Nowadays most Smartphones are already pretty big, way bigger than it was in 2015, This award is for making the best of the big feature both in the hardware and software department.
Winner- Samsung Galaxy Note 9
It has got the best display in the world and it has a great body with a 4000mAh battery, S pen feature, multi-window support. This phone is a power user default.
Runner Up- Huawei Mate 20 Pro
It’s not as big as Note 9 but it has 6.4-inch display, 4200mAh battery, and has a triple camera all of the different focal lengths. It has a notch also and no headphone jack but yes it is one of the complete big smartphones in this category.
Best Small Smartphone
Winner- iPhone XS
It has got a 5.7 inch display, it is not the super small smartphone but to win one has to do all that in a small phone which a big phone can do, and iPhone XS truly does all that iPhone XS max does, there are no drawbacks, it has got the fastest chip in the world.
Runner Up- Google Pixel 3
It is, even more, smaller with 5.5-inch display and some may agree that it is better than it’s a big brother. The only thing one is missing is the larger display.
2nd Runner-Up- Samsung Galaxy 9
It is back with 5.8-inch display with a great design and a 3000 mAh battery. The only back is that it has got one less camera than Galaxy S9+ but all these things are pretty small to notice.
Best Smartphone Camera
Winner- Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL
There is only one camera in this smartphone and the amount of software magic google has done is incredible, there are many other but what Google has done with the HDR+ with software magic and the nightside gives some amazing shots. Clear and far ahead as the favorite camera in a smartphone.
Runner Up- iPhone XS Max
iPhone had been the king of smartphone video If you make a lot of videos get one. It is the Best smartphone for making a video.
Honorable mention- Huawei Mate 20 Pro
It has made excellent use of three cameras with different focal length.
Best Battery Award
Winner- Huawei Mate 20 Pro
It has actually shocked us. It’s a 4000mAh battery, 6.4-inch display, but the aggressive memory management combined with the actively changing resolution and fast charging and wireless charging, all this commitment one can literally cannot think about the battery. One can use it for 6 straight hours and end the day with 40% battery left. It is ridiculous.
Runner Up- iPhone XR
Combining the best SoC in any phone with A12 chipset with great resolution. It has one of the best battery saver phones.
The Design Award
Winner- Oppo Find X
What a head turner phone this year, they decided to go with full-on motorized slider that holds the front-facing camera and IR sensor facial recognition center. It pops up every time you unlock the phone. It is really a fascinating phone. It may end up in a museum in the coming years.
Best Budget Smartphone Award
Good phones are getting cheap
Cheap phones are getting Good
Winner- Xiaomi Pocophone F1
It has got snapdragon 845, 6GB RAM, 4000mAh battery, and it does not cost much. What else do you need as a regular user. This phone performed too well also. It took down iPhone X in the camera department. So it is a lot going on with this phone.
Now we have the award you all are waiting for, the MVP phone of the year, you can see it as the best phone, most complete phone, the most impactful phone.
The Smartphone of the Year 2018
Winner- OnePlus 6T
It really deserves it, but if you look back it is not best in any department, arguably it is the fastest smartphone in the world and it does pretty much all the stuff very well by sacrificing couple things at the right place to bring the price way down. So in a world where phones are approaching 90k-120k, this phone brings all those features in just 40k with a flagship design. This is the phone I would recommend. It would tuff to ask for it the next year. OnePlus have done a great job. It has got a great display, 6.41-inch display, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, 3700mAh battery, notch, 20MP dual-lens camera, on-screen fingerprint. All this stuff in half the price.
Runner Up- Samsung Galaxy Note 9
This is one phone you can call a complete phone, not a lot of phone would make you say that you are getting more than you paid for but if you want to check every buck, Note 9 does that for you.
So there you have it, the Smartphone award 2018. There is a phone for everyone, for photography, for video watching, big battery life, there were some tuff choices to make but we hope we made the right decision. Kindly share your views
