Meditation is an art to look into yourself

As fitness is to train the body meditation is to train the mind

Meditation is a very simple practice that people overcomplicate. This article focuses on breathing meditation, where you focus on your breath.  This practice isn’t just about focusing your attention, it’s about learning how your mind works. What’s going on inside there? It’s murky, but by watching your mind wander, get frustrated and to avoid difficult feelings, you can start to understand yourself.

It’s a demand for today keeping in mind our lifestyle and increasing stress level. It takes you to the other world full of calmness, peace, and happiness. However, meditation is not just an activity but a family of activities. It’s extremely difficult for a beginner to sit for hours and think of nothing or have an “empty mind.”
However, the easiest way to begin meditating is by focusing on the breath.

There are certain things which should keep in mind or take care of while meditating.

1. Take deep breath(10 times) before starting

Before starting meditation you should take a deep breath at least 10 times so as to ensure your mind is relaxed and now you can concentrate. Deep breathing not only acts as a starter but also act as a warm-up before meditating.

2. Body posture should be correct and comfortable

While meditating your body posture should be relaxed and comfortable. It is not necessary to be in yogic posture or with folded legs, however, you should be in a position where your back should be straight and you should not feel any pain in any part of the body while meditating.

3. Do not try to put pressure on the center part of the forehead

It is generally seen that people complain about pain at the center of the forehead, the reason behind this is that they put pressure on the center part in order to see inside or to attain peacefulness. Therefore, it is advised not to do such things and just sit for 10-15 minutes as a beginner and rest of the work will be done automatically once it will be a routine. As meditation is for relaxing the mind so does the procedure or technique.

4. Be in a relaxed state of mind

You should not think about the past or future but should think about the present and which is also one of the technique of how to meditate. Make no effort to control the breath simply breathe naturally.

5. Keep Your neck straight

Now, this is basically an important step while doing meditate because if your neck is in an upward direction or downward direction you will suffer from pain and which will not let you able to sit for a longer duration.

6. You should be physically fit

Being physically fit actually means that you should have a proper sleep as a fit body makes you aim at the right direction and give results quickly in meditation.

7. Have Clean Surroundings

Please make sure the surroundings of your room must be clean or there should not be any foul smell as you will be again and again thinking about it and it leads to distraction.

8. Put Focus on Your Body

You should put the focus on your mind, body and soul and should have a positive attitude towards doing it. Now that you are settled in, turn your attention to your breath. Just place the attention on your breath as it comes in, and follow it through your nose all the way down to your lungs. Try counting “one” as you take in the first breath, then “two” as you breathe out. Repeat this to the count of 10, then start again at one.

9. Start with one step at a time to the final attainment

If you try to meditate for 30 minutes right from the start, it is more likely that you will get frustrated and discouraged. It is recommended starting with five to ten minutes, and only increasing that time after practicing gradually.

10. Don’t get caught up in how you will do it, just do

Most people worry about where to sit, how to sit, what cushion to use … this is all nice, but it’s not that important to get started. Start just by sitting on a chair, or on your couch. Or on your bed. If you’re comfortable on the ground, sit cross-legged. It’s just for two minutes at first anyway, so just sit. Later you can worry about optimizing it so you’ll be comfortable for longer, but in the beginning, it doesn’t matter much, just sit somewhere quiet and comfortable.

Happy meditating and we hope you have a stress free life ahead!!
